Muse.com is a work in progress.

It started in 1994 with the idea that the web and the muse would someday cross paths.

1997 was a time to explore the crossroads, by writing crude html, cutting music mp3s, and coding visual performances.

By 1998, there was a chunk of code to render visuals in real time. It was named Sky.

In 1999, we wrote a biz plan to turn Muse.com into portal. But, it didn’t happen. Why? Because we couldn’t figure out how to make money.

At the time, there were plenty of web sites spending millions of dollars in search of a clue. Some thought that customers could be ‘acquired’ – at around $50 to $100 a head – and then ‘monetize’ their human assets.

But, people aren’t cattle. They go back to where they can be amused and inspired. And that takes time.
In April 2000, with the dot com bust, Muse.com went dormant.

Meanwhile, Sky was appearing at raves, concerts and clubs.
One night, Sky was performed at a  club with a virtual puppet, called a Vuppet.

And then came 9/11.

So, how can we live together?

Work has quietly continued.

Since then, nearly a billion media rich mobile phones have arrived. And, since then, new game machines have arrived, that 10 years ago, would rival a million dollar supercomputer.

That's where Muse comes in.  We are creating a social media patchbay to bridge the intimacy of handheld devices, the immersive expressiveness of game machines, and the social pervasiveness of the web. We are creating a social media mixer that can be used by anyone, from the age 4 on up.

When will it happen?  Soon.
